Sweet Lou Piniella close to joining the Yankees on YES

The man Yankees fans loved and later loved to hate as a visiting manager, Lou Piniella, is close to signing a deal that would bring him back to the Bronx as a broadcaster for the YES Network, according to Bob Raissman of the NY Daily News.

Sweet Lou actually broadcasted Yankees games in 1989 for MSG after he was fired as the team’s manager. He will likely do just a few games this season in both the booth and in the studio.

Hopefully he does at least a couple of games with Paul O’Neill.
