Bronx Baseball Daily to join ESPN blog network

Big news for the blog.

Bronx Baseball Daily has reached an agreement with ESPN to join its SweetSpot Network as its Yankees blog affiliate.

As of right now I am not 100 percent certain when we will switch over, but it should be sometime this week. We are taking the spot of the great Yankees blog –  It’s About The Money (Stupid!), which you should read if you are not already. Jason Rosenberg and his crew aren’t going away, they are heading to SNY which has it’s own very impressive blog network.

You won’t notice any difference to our regular content. We’ll be operating as usual except that I have some great new content ideas so if anything we’ll be better than ever. It should mean more traffic as well which will mean more fun and meaningful discussions on the blog. I will also be contributing to ESPN’s Sweetspot blog occasionally.

I know it seems like I’m selling out, but if anything I have already sold out. I have been working for ESPN New York for over a year now so working with ESPN is nothing new.  They won’t have any control over the type of content I produce, but the site will undergo some very basic changes (we’ll be getting rid of the YardBarker logo for one).

Hopefully this will open up some nice opportunities for the site as well. The Yankees don’t credential bloggers, but hopefully one day they will and an affiliation with ESPN can only be a big help. There may be some other opportunities along those lines as well.

Either way, I’m just glad for the opportunity. I created this blog just over three years ago and am very proud of what it’s become. We covered a World Series winning team and drew over a million visitors in the past year alone. Hopefully we are just getting started.

Congrats. I look forward to your site's progress.

  2. Well deserved. ESPN is a great partner and they do not ever seek to influence content, so your readers can rest comfortably.

    Good luck Rob!

Congratulations. This is my favorite sports blog — the Yankees are very close to my heart, and this blog has a hometown feel which makes me feel like I popped in to a bar on the Upper West Side and am talking baseball with the locals. Plus a few tourists who stumble in.
One thing which particularly drew me to this blog from the beginning — it's very collegial, with a cast of co-bloggers — Alex Taffett and Brian Burkhart today; and past standouts like Eric Communiello and Jess Coleman. Different perspectives which I think add tremendously to this site. (All YANKEE HOMERS, of course). I hope that that won't change at ESPN.
Best of luck — Bronx Knight.
