Pineda-Montero deal finally becomes official

In a press release, the Yankees finally made the Jesus Montero/Michael Pineda deal official today as all the sides have finally passed their respective physicals (link).

It took 10 days from the day the trade was made until it was finalized largely because Montero got stuck in Venezuela with visa issues. Now that a deal is done the Yankees can now turn their full attention to finalizing the bench and adding a DH.

They are only said to have up to $2 million in the payroll budget to address the rest of their needs though so they may need to trade A.J. Burnett first. Otherwise they may go the non-roster invitee route to start the season before looking to acquire a bat before the deadline.
