Quote: Nova’s arm strain 100 percent healed

Joe Girardi left everyone wondering what was going on in game five of the ALDS last season when he pulled Ivan Nova after just two innings. After the game he revealed he had suffered an arm strain and had to be pulled from the game.

I didn’t give it much thought at the time as it seemed like an easy excuse for Girardi who seemed like he was panicking at the time. Part of me still feels like this entire thing is BS. But for what it’s worth, Nova told an AP reporter that his arm has completely healed.

“It’s perfect,” Nova said. “100 percent. I was worried a little bit, but they said you’re going to be fine.”

Nova has been throwing for weeks already so they don’t seem worried about him at all. Despite the fact that the Yankees have six guys fighting for five rotation spots, the general assumption is that Nova’s spot is secure.
