Delcarmen out 4-5 days with strained lat

Barring any injuries, the Yankees 25 man roster is just about set. The only spot that is up for grabs is a final bullpen or bench spot.

With the Yankees recently outrighting Chris Dickerson to the minors, it appears that final spot will go to the bullpen. It seems possible that the final spot will go to lefties Clay Rapada or Cesar Cabral, but if it doesn’t go to a lefty it seems like Manny Delcarmen has the best chance to grab the final spot.

However, Delcarmen put his chances in jeopardy today as he will miss at least four or five days with a strained lateral muscle, according to Chad Jennings of the Journal News.

Another righty who could potentially win a spot in the pen is George Kontos, who has been out with a strained oblique. Some good news on that front though, via Jennings, is that he expects to play catch tomorrow and could be back on the mound soon.

Russell Branyan and Austin Romine are both dealing with back injuries and there is no word yet on when either of them will return to action.
