Yankees continue spring training tradition with improv

Starting back in 2009, Joe Girardi has taken the Yankees on a bonding trip right before games started up as a way to bring his teams closer together. They went to an arcade together one year, they bowled another, last year they skipped the event, but this season it was off to a comedy club for improv, via Chad Jennings of the Journal News.

The event was a big hit this year. Nick Swisher called Mark Teixeira the MVP and both he and Ivan Nova raved that it is bringing them together as a team. It’s pretty cool and it keeps the Yankees from appearing too stiff like they did for most of the end of the Joe Torre era.
