Derek Jeter extended his hitting streak to 13-games on Monday with a 4-for-5 night that should have reminded people just how special Jeter is. More than a year after people started calling him finished, he upped his line to: .411/.436/.644.
“I keep kidding him that it’s like 1999 again, three hits every day,” Alex Rodriguez told Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News. “He’s amazing. You even see him in batting practice, the ball’s just jumping off his bat to all fields. Awesome.”
It’s really an amazing start, but it is important to keep in mind that it is just a few games in April and the Yankees have faced a lot of lefties early on, Jeter kills lefties. At the same time, this isn’t anything new. Going back to the day he got his 3,000th hit, Jeter has a .354/.401/.493 line. The Captain is not finished yet.
