Astros claim Justin Maxwell off waivers

It’s a shame the Yankees had to lose Maxwell, who had a very strong showing in the spring, especially after Raul Ibanez showed everyone why he’s a DH and not an outfielder on Sunday. He’ll join their big league club though and although I’m not sure how much playing time he’ll have, it’s good to see him get a shot.

The Yankees were able to keep Chris Dickerson, another fringe type outfielder who was out of options, after he cleared waivers in the very beginning of spring training. Maybe the Yankees should have tried to clear Maxwell then too.
