BBDP April 21:Oliver continues solid play, Charleston rolls, Austin’s hit streak at 12.

BBDP MVP: William Oliver (5 IP, ER, 3 K)

Double-A Trenton: L 4-1 to Harrisburg. L: Hall (2-2). Christian Garcia got the save for Harrisburg, with 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, and 2 K

Abe Almonte: 0/5 (.262)
Ronnier Mustelier: 1/4, K (.339)
Melky Mesa: 0/3, R (.224)
Cody Johnson: 1/4, K (.304).
Luke Murton: 3/4, RBI (.320)
Walt Ibarra: 2/4, 2B (.275)
Shaeffer Hall: 7 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, BB, 5K (3.91 ERA). A very Shaeffer Hall appearance. Solid.
Kelvin Perez: 1 IP, H, 0 ER (0.00 ERA). Still no earned runs on the season through 9.1 IP.

High-A Tampa: L 3-12 to Daytona. L: O’Brien (2-1)

Eddy Sosa: 0/4 (.241). River Ave Blues’ assertion that he either has a multi-hit game or doesn’t get any hits is spot-on.
Kelvin Castro: 0/4, K (.228)
Ramon Flores: 1/3, R, BB, K (.212). Starting to pick it up, he has a hit in each of his last five games (6/19)
Rob “Seggy” Segedin: 3/4, R, 2B, E (2) (.293). Looking sharp in High-A.
JR Murphy: 1/4, 2B, 2 RBI, K (.250) I’m just waiting for him to go on a tear. Seems like he has the lay of the land at this level, it should be any day now.
Shane Brown: 1/2, 2 BB (.333). He really is a superior contact hitter.
Mikey O’Brien: 3.1 IP, 8 H, 8 ER, 4 BB, K (5.79 ERA). He’s ERA climbed quite a bit in this start. It was a bad outing, everyone has one.
Vidal Nuno: 1/2 IP, 2 K (1.93 ERA)
Branden Pinder: 2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 K, HR (6.1 ERA). That’s the second time he’s gotten lit up this season. He’ll have to develop some consistency. It was a three run homer that got him today.
Manuel Barreda: 1 IP, 2 H, ER, BB, K (10.8 ERA). The performance just doesn’t match the stuff.

Low-A Charleston: W 4-1 vs West Virginia. W: Oliver (1-1) S: Wetherell (2). They’re in first place in their division, with an 11-3 record. That’s also good for the best in the South Atlantic League.

Mason “Mad Mase” Williams: 2/5, SB (8) (.318). He’s really stealing bases at a rapid rate, and he’s not getting caught much. Impressive.
Ben Gamel: 0/3, BB (.232)
Dante “Bichette Happens” Bichette Jr.: 1/2, RBI, 2 BB, 2 E (4) (.319). Love the patience, love the average so far. Good return from his short hiatus, although I don’t like the errors.
Tyler Austin: 1/4, R, 2B (.404). Hit streak is now 12 games. Beastly.
Gary Sanchez: 1/4, 2B, RBI, K, E (3 – throwing) (.357) 9 game hit streak. He also let up a few SBs today (3), and didn’t catch anyone stealing. NBD.
Angelo Gumbs: 0/3, R, BB, K, SB (3), (.170)
Cito “Cheeto” Culver: 2/3, 2 R, RBI, BB, 2 SB (5), E (2, throw) (.167). When he does get on, he can sure run the bases. The move down in the lineup has been relatively successful, as he has had hits in 4 of his last 5 games.
William Oliver: 5 IP, 5 H, ER, 2 BB, 3 K (1.69 ERA) Has looked quite sharp in the early going.
Zach Varce: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 K, H (2) (1.13) Ditto
Phil Wetherell: 2 IP, H, 0 ER, 2 K (0.82 ERA). Philthy.
