BBDP April 7, 2012: Trenton Thunders their way to seven homeruns

BBDP MVP: Rob “R-Ly” LyerTriple-A Empire State L 0-4 vs Syracus. L: Manny Banuelos

Francisco Cervelli: 0/4, K (.000). It’s been a while since Cevelli has had an o-for streak this bad.
Brandon Laird: 0/4, K
Colin Curtis: 1/4
Manny Baneulos: 3.1 IP, 11 H, 4 ER, BB, 2 K, HR (10.8 ERA). Tough outing.

Trenton: W 11-2 vs New Hampshire. W: Brett Marshall

Ronnier Mustelier: 0/5, RBI (.231)
Dan “Brewski” Brewer: 2/4, 2 2B, RBI, BB (.286)
“Boilin” Zoilo Almonte: 3/5, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI (.231). That’s more like it. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
Rob “R-Ly” Lyerly: 2/4, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, K (.273). Have a day R-Ly!
Melky “Melkman 2″ Mesa: 1/4, HR, R, RBI (.250)
Cody Johnson: 3/4, 2 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, K (.571). He’s on fire to start the season, and he’s still just 23 in Double-A. He did hit 21 HR between High-A and Double-A last year.
Brett Marshall: 5 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, K (3.6 ERA). This was a shaky performance for Marshall. He had three walks and just one strikeout. He kept the runs in check but he also had several balls hit to the warning track that stayed in the park. Get the WD 40 out because he’s gotta shake off some rust.
Kelvin Perez: 1 IP, 0 H, BB, 2 K. He was sitting at 93-94 mph according to Mike Ashmore.
Preston Claiborne: 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K (0.00 ERA) That’s another good performance from Claiborne. His low 90′s fastball, changeup, slider combo really seem to be doing the trick. He and Whitley will make a great combo at the back end of that bullpen. He was sitting 93 mph as well.
Ryan Pope: 1 IP, 2 H, K (9.0 ERA)

High-A Tampa: L 2-5 vs Lakeland. L: Ramirez

Kelvin Castro: 1/4 (.364)
Ramon Flores: 0/3, RBI (.000) Has yet to get his first hit.
Rob “Seggy” Segedin: 2/4, HR, RBI, R (.154). That’s the Seggy we know.
Kyle Roller: 0/4 (.091)
JR Murphy: 0/4 (.273)
Zach Wilson: 1/4 (.417). Guy has been hitting every game so far.
Jose “J-Ram” Ramirez: 5.2 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 8 K. Could be better, but the 8 K is extremely encouraging. He also had no walks.

Low-A Charleston. W 2-1 vs Rome. Yet again the only win in the system.

Mason  Williams: 0/3 (.286)
Cito Culver: 0/4, K (.000). Rough start for Cito.
Dante “Bichette Happens” Bichette: 2/4, R, 2 K (.375). Dude’s a hitter.
Tyler Austin: 1/2, 3B, RBI (.167). Kelvin De Leon replaced him for some reason mid-game, but he played well.
Kelvin De Leon: 0/2, K (.200)
Gary “Sanchize” Sanches: 2/3, 2B, R, SB (.667). Has started off the season en fuego.
Ben Gamel: 1/3, K (.167)
Angelo Gumbs: 0/2, BB, K (.000)
Caleb “Gotham City” Cotham: 4.0 IP, ER, H, 3 BB, 4 K (2.25 ERA). I have to say I was surprised to see him as a starter. This will be good for his development though, and he pitched well today.
Wilton Rodriguez: 3 IP, 5 K, 0 ER, 0 H (0.00 ERA). Sheesh, what an outing for him.
Ben Paulus: 2 IP, 2 H, BB, K, (0.00 ERA). Gotta love all of these young relievers.l
