BBDP April 8th, 2012: Two Mitchells, One Gem

DJ and Bryan Mitchell, no relation, had very similar outings today. Both were gems. Here are the scores.

Triple-A Empire State: W 10-0 vs Syracuse. W: DJ Mitchell

Jack Cust: 4/4, 4 RBI, BB, R (.400)
Brandon Laird: 2/6, 2 2B, 2 RBI (.176)
Colin Curtis: 2/4, R, 2B, 2 BB, K (.267)
Kevin Russo: 2/5, R (.300)
Ray Kruml: 0/4, (.125)
DJ “The Mitchuation” Mitchell: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K (0.00 ERA) Really dominant in this start. He’s about proved all he can prove already in Triple-A, and I would imagine he will be even more dominant than he was last year.

Low-A Charleston: W 1-0. W: Lewis, S: Guerra (1). Charleston has been winning with pitching, surprisingly, and hasn’t been hitting up to expectations.

Mason “Mad Mase” Williams: 1/4, SB (1), (.273)
Cito Culver: 0/3, BB, 2 K. Still 0 for the season.
Dante “Bichette Happens” Bichette: 2/4 (.417). This kid is a whiz with the stick.
Gary “Sanchize” Sanchez: 0/4, K (.400)
Ben Gamel: 0/3, R (.111) A rough start for Gamel. He is a great hitter by all accounts, so he should pick it up soon.
Casey Stevenson: 2/3, 2B, K (.667). This was his first game of the season, and he started it off right.
Bryan Mitchell: 6 IP, H, BB, 6 K. Similar line to DJ Mitchell, and it was a good one. This is probably the best performance of his young career, and if he can consistently put up numbers like this, we are talking about one of the most talented players in the organization.
Zachary Varce: 1 IP, BB, K, H (1) (0.00 ERA)
