Logan’s MRI comes back negative, DL stint unlikely

UPDATE:¬†Marc Carig of the Star-Ledger has reported that Logan’s MRI came back negative and Brian Cashman doesn’t expect him to land on the DL. He will likely be on the opening day roster.

ORIGINAL POST: Just when it seemed like the Yankees would make it through spring training without any injuries Michael Pineda, Cesar Cabral, and now possibly Boone Logan will start the season on the DL.

Logan showed up to camp today complaining about back problems so the Yankees have sent him to get an MRI to have things checked out, according to Mark Feinsand and Marc Carig.

No word yet on whether or not he will actually land on the DL, but it seems like a pretty safe bet that Clay Rapada will now make the team either way. Mike Axisa had the idea that the Yankees could sign lefty free agent Mike Gonzalez is Logan’s injury is serious. I think that would certainly be a possibility especially if Cabral is on the shelf for an extended period of time too.
