Cashman compares Chris Stewart to Jose Molina

Still wondering why the Yankees traded for Chris Stewart and demoted Francisco Cervelli to the minor leagues – it’s because they love Stewart defensively.

“Chris Stewart is an exceptional defensive player, right out of the Jose Molina mold,” Brian Cashman told Chad Jennings of the Journal News. “(Francisco) Cervelli is obviously a better hitter than he is.”

That’s a pretty impressive comparison coming from Cashman considering what the Yankees think of Molina. Of course, Molina has been called one of the best defensive catchers in baseball.
