David Phelps makes the Yankees Opening Day roster

In the search for a longman out of the bullpen, the Yankees have decided to go with David Phelps, according to Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News.

This doesn’t actually mean that Adam Warren and D.J. Mitchell‘s chances are completely shot. The Yankees will likely announce later today that lefty¬†Clay Rapada will make the roster, but with Boone Logan‘s back acting up it could end up that they need yet another reliever.

Since it would be for more of a temporary middle relief role George Kontos probably has the best shot for the Opening Day roster if Logan starts on the DL. However, Warren and Mitchell will certainly be in consideration as well, especially Mitchell, whom the Yankees have already considered for a middle relief position.
