The Mets could lose 100 games this season, but that didn’t stop them from rocking Ivan Nova in his last start of the spring on Tuesday. It was just the latest in a rough spring for Nova, who has a 8.06 ERA in 22.1 innings.
Spring stats don’t mean anything and he gets to start fresh again on Friday. Still, that didn’t stop him from saying that it was the worst day of his life.
“Today was the worst day of my life,” Nova told Dan Martin of the NY Post. “I felt good…but I couldn’t throw strikes. I couldn’t even control my fastball.”
Nova is coming off a very strong season last year, but the 25-year-old only has a year and a half of Major League experience so it is something to keep an eye on.
