Andy Pettitte‘s first appearance against the Mets went well the other day. Next up, he’ll throw two innings in a game with the High-A Tampa Yankees, according to Joel Sherman of the NY Post.
Pettitte will pitch every fifth day which will line him up for a May 4th start if they keep him on a typical spring schedule, Sherman reports. That would be a Friday night game in Kansas City, not a bad place for him to get his first start back.
Of course that is with no setbacks which certainly is no guarantee for a 39-year-old. There is no reason to think that he will get hurt, but Pettitte clearly has a little ways to go as he was sitting in the 84-86 mph range with his fastball in his first appearance the other day.
