Pineda continues throwing, waits to get into a game

Michael Pineda spent some time playing catch under the watch of Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild, who helped him with a few things mechanically, last week. This week he has been doing long tossing program. There is no word on when he’ll get back on the mound, but that seems like the next step that everyone is waiting for.

The first step to getting on a mound would be a half mound. He would probably throw at least twice off of that before graduating to the real thing. Manager Joe Girardi recently ruled out all of April for Pineda, but with the caution they are taking it seems like late May/early June would be reasonable to expect him back. That’s just a guess though. At least for now it sounds like he is progressing well, no pain.
