Pineda says there is no pain in his shoulder

After the Yankees found out that Michael Pineda was experiencing shoulder pain, they immediately shut him down. There is no timetable for his return yet, but the Yankees are downplaying the severity of his injury and Pineda himself is saying that he’s already starting to feel better.

“It’s a little sore, but there’s no pain right now,” Pineda told Chad Jennings of the Journal News. “… Right now I’m feeling much better.”

It took Phil Hughes two and a half months to return from something similar last season, but Cashman said Pineda’s injury was less severe from the start. He’s being evaluated this week so there should be a timetable for his return soon.
