Pineda to throw first bullpen on Tuesday

Michael Pineda has been on the DL with shoulder tendinitis since his final start in spring training. He will take a big step toward recovery this week though as he is expected to throw his first bullpen since the injury on Tuesday, according to George King of the NY Post.

Already Yankees manager Joe Girardi has ruled out the possibility of Pineda pitching in April, but beyond that little is known about his possible return. Once he pitches a bullpen we will start to get a better idea of what is going to happen. It seems realistic to expect that even without any setbacks it could take up to six more weeks for him to return so late May/early June is more reasonable.

One Response to Pineda to throw first bullpen on Tuesday

  1. Tanned Tom says:

May is long enough to wait. That should give Cashman enough time to trade Garcia. Then when Andy's ready we can trade Hughes as well. I'm so ready to see Hughes screw up somewhere else.
