Soriano unavailable in extras becauase of torn nail

As the Yankees and the Orioles went deeper into the game last night both teams were getting low on bullpen options. For the Yankees there was one pitcher who was conspiculously absent though – Rafael Soriano.

It turns out that Soriano split his fingernail while he was warming up in the bullpen during the game, according to Bryan Hoch of

This is probably nothing serious, but after using all of their relievers except him on Tuesday night, it would be nice if he were available on Wednesday. Further, there is a chance that his nail could be split bad enough that it could land him on the DL. That’s not really likely though.
