Teixeira latest Yankee to suffer from the flu

Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira, who has been struggling yet again this April, sat out of the lineup in Tuesday night’s game with flu symptoms, according to Erik Boland of Newsday.

Teixeira is just the latest Yankee who has suffered flu like symptoms in a little more than a week. Brett Gardner sat out a game over this past weekend and Ivan Nova was affected before that.

It’s really not a big deal, but this type of thing can occasionally spread, like it already has, so it could end up knocking somebody else out of the lineup in the upcoming days.

I get a flu shot every fall, along with most of the people in my office. The flu vaccine is never perfect, but we never have any outbreaks.

You would think these somebody in the Yankees organization would think to have a nurse come to the clubhouse every fall and give everybody a shot in the arm.

I guess we can blame Robbie Cano 🙂 (reference to ESPN commercial).
