The Yankee beat: Bobby-V, Melancon, and the DH

The Yankees have now dropped two out of three to the Twins and with Phil Hughes pitching on Thursday it could end up being a terrible series. Here is our recap. To make things worse, Brett Gardner is now on the DL with a strained elbow.

Here’s what the blogosphere was talking about.

  • Bleeding Yankee Blue wonders if Bobby Valentine will make it through the season in Boston without getting fired.¬†Criticizing¬†Youkilis certainly didn’t win him any fans.
  • The Yankee Analysts reminds us that Mark Melancon‘s historically bad outing was not quite the worst outing of all time. That belongs to another former Yankee, Bob Kammeyer.
  • River Ave Blues takes a look at the Yankees early season production from their DH. It hasn’t been pretty – they rank 10th out of 14 AL teams at the position.
