The Yankee beat: Pineda trade, Yu Darvish, & the bullpen

Phil Hughes pitched a beautfiul 1st inning, but quickly fell apart, as he allowed four runs in 2.2 innings. The Yankees offense missed opportunities and were ultimately shutdown by the Texas bullpen. Here is our recap.

Here is what the Yankees blogosphere was talking about today.

  • The Pinstriped Bible reminded us that the Mariners haven’t necessarily “won” the Michael Pineda/Jesus Montero swap. He wrote it before the news that Pineda would be out for a year, but I think his point still stands.
  • The Yankee Analysts wonder if Yu Darvish‘s start was as dominating as it appeared. He certainly got some help from the home plate umpire.
  • River Ave Blues takes a look at the workload of the Yankees bullpen. Joe Girardi has done a good job making sure nobody has been overworked.
