Wise and Nix pass waivers and assigned to AAA

Outfielder Dewayne Wise and infielder Jayson Nix could have opted out of their deals had a team been willing to put them on their active roster, but that didn’t happen as Jack Curry of the YES Network reported that the two veterans have passed through waivers and will be assigned to Triple-A instead.

Both players were brought into camp as insurance in case of an injury and will now head to the Empire State Yankees where they will wait and see if an injury opens up a spot on the roster. Both are pretty low on the depth charts though and might need multiple injuries before joining the team.

  1. Mike Sommer says:

I'd like to see the cuts for AAA. There seems to be quite the logjam there now.
