Being in the National League for his entire career before this season, Albert Pujols hasn’t seen much of Yankee Stadium. He made his first trip to the Bronx back in 2003 and then again during the All-Star game in 2008, but has never been to the new Yankee Stadium until now.
However, Pujols said he’s not putting too much thought on his first trip to the new place.
“No disrespect, but I look at it as just another city, another stadium,” Pujols told Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times. “I try to separate off-the-field stuff with preparation. Yeah, it’s a big city, it’s Yankee Stadium, we’re facing the Yankees, but to me that doesn’t matter.”
Pujols is off to a slow start as an Angel, putting up a .308 OBP and .612 OPS in his first six games. I doubt that is much comfort to the Yankees though as he has never finished worse than 9th in the NL MVP voting ever in his entire career.
