Nothing was going right for the Yankees as Freddy Garcia didn’t have it and they fell behind 9-0 by the 5th inning. However, Mark Teixeira homered in the 6th to get the Yankees on the board, Nick Swisher hit a grand slam in the 7th, and then Teixeira homered again as they pulled to within 9-8. Another seven run inning in the 8th capped off an amazing, instant Yankees Classic.
Check out this amazing win expectancy chart. The Red Sox had a 99.7 percent win expectancy before Teixeira’s homer in the 6th. The Yankees turned that around to 98.6 percent in their favor by the end of the 8th. Crazy.
