The problem with Mustelier replacing Nix is this: Mustelier doesn't play SS should Jeter need a day off or get injured. Rather Mustelier, who plays 3B, LF, and RF, replace Andruw Jones as a righty bat against lefty pitching. He's eight years younger for one thing. The tradeoff? Mustelier may hit for higher average. Power unknown at the higher level. Jones has the experience, probably more power, better defensively. But the way Mustelier is going, I'd consider a shakeup by bringing him up and dumping Jones. Oh yeah, Mustelier has 14 SB in his minor league career in 75 games. … more

Jones doesn't run, but then most of the Yanks don't. The lack of speed with Gardner out and Nunez down is telling. Even Granderson doesn't run anymore. Last 85 games? Granderson has tried to steal just six times. Why? Power-drunk? Grandy could be a 30-30 guy. He's 1 for 3 in SB attempts this year. Why only three attempts? Heck, down by a run yesterday, in the EIGHTH inning, on first base with no one out, Granderson didn't attempt to steal? This team is having trouble scoring runs, and no SB, hit and run, or bunt the guy over. Guys with speed (Granderson) don't run. There are guys who can't steal (Swish, Jones, Teix, Cano, Ibanez) and the guys who don't hit much (Stewart) aren't bunting guys over. This team can't play littleball. I'd love to know why Grandy isn't running.
