K-Law has Yankees taking Joey Gallo in mock draft 2

We’re about a week away from the 2012 MLB amateur draft so I thought it’s a good time to share the latest mock draft from Keith Law (insider req.), ESPN’s draft guru.

Law has the Yankees taking third baseman Joey Gallo with the 30th overall pick. Gallo goes to Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada and was once the teammate of Bryce Harper (Gallo hit 4th in the lineup behind Harper) and is regarded as the best power hitter in the draft. Ray Brewer of the Las Vegas Sun has a great profile of Gallo that you should read. He sounds like an extremely hard worker and a promising kid.

Law also said that the Yankees have been connected to Duane Undersoon, a right handed pitcher whom he has Texas taking at No. 29 overall. Other names mentioned where D.J Davis, a speedy outfielder from Stone County (Miss.) H.S., Jose Berrios, a prep player, Mitch Gueller, a high schooler from Washington, and Mitch Haniger, an outfielder from Cal Poly.

In his first mock draft from about two weeks back, Law had the Yankees taking shortstop Addison Russell, from Pace H.S. (Fl.). Russell fell off the draft board this time around.
