Mariano Rivera vows to pitch again

In some news that perked me up right away, Mariano Rivera announced today that he will be back and said he wouldn’t be going out like this.

“I am coming back. Write it down in big letters,” Rivera told Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News. “…I’m not going out like this.”

“I love to play the game. To me, going out like this isn’t the right way.”

Rivera, who said that he decided last night in his hotel room that he would be back (Hoch), told reporters that he would continue to shag flies during BP (Waldstein) and also ruled out the possibility of playing for another team (Waldstein).

Chances are good that his comeback will not happen in 2012. So that means we get another full season of the greatest relief pitcher of all time.
