Many people questioned the Yankees when they brought Raul Ibanez in to DH on the cheap. So far things have worked out for him, at least offensively, as he has been a solid right handed bat in their DH platoon.
Ibanez showed last night that while he might have lost a bit from his prime, he still can hit the ball hard by blasting two home runs Tuesday night. He has upped his slash line to .267/.317/.520 which is good for a .837 OPS. He certainly could stand to bring his OBP up a bit, but that’s decent production for $1.1 million.
If the Yankees can get Andruw Jones going a bit better, he’s hitting .222/.308/.422 so far, they can have a very solid DH between them. Now get them off the field.
