Teixeira hitting well during 6-game hitting streak

Mark Teixeira said he started to get sick the day before the season started, but his cough is not going away and after speaking with reporters Wednesday night Chad Jennings of the Journal News said he sounded as bad as he has the entire year.

Still, that hasn’t stopped Teixeira from putting together solid numbers this week as he has extended his hitting streak to six games with a .348/.400/.565/.965 line.

Now six games doesn’t mean a lot and isn’t even a real evidence that he has put his struggles behind him. But, Teixeira has been so bad for so long this season that any positive sign is a big deal at this point. It could be a blip, but hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.
