Aardsma pitching today for 1st time all year

In what was seen as a minor move during the offseason, the Yankees signed reliever David Aardsma who was recovering from both Tommy John and hip surgery and wasn’t even ready to start the season.

Now, he’s extremely close to finally being ready to pitch. Aardsma Tweeted yesterday that he would be pitching in a GCL game today.┬áIt took Andy Pettitte seven weeks before returning, but he’s a starting pitcher. It’ll be more like four weeks for Aardsma as he won’t need to be stretched out as a reliever. With no setbacks, he should be back right around the All-Star break a month ago.
