BBDP MVP: Brett “Fire” Marshall – 6 IP, 8 K, 1 ER
Triple-A Empire State: L 5-4 vs Louisville. L: Mitchell (5-3)
Chris Dickerson: 0/4, BB, 2 K (.297) He may be called up sooner rather than later now that Gardner had another setback in his recovery.
Corban Joseph: 0/5, K (.250)
Ronnier “Musketeer” Mustelier: 2/4, R, HR (6), RBI, BB (.307) Girardi says his name has been brought up for a promotion, so he could see some time in the outfield if Gardner is out for an extended period of time.
Russel Branyan: 1/5, R, HR (5), RBI, 2 K (.310) Seems like every hit is a homerun for him, not sure where he fits in with the major league team, but maybe he can DH in games where Girardi feels adventerous enough to put Ibanez in right field.
Brandon Laird: 1/1, R, BB (.238) Left the game early.
Kevin Russo: 1/4, RBI, K (.282)
DJ Mitchell: 6 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 5 K, HR (5.43 ERA) He and Warren seem to have switched roles from earlier this season.
David “D-Rob” Roberston: 1 IP, 0 ER, K (0.00 ERA) Should be one or two more appearances before our bridge to Rafael is solidified.
Double-A Trenton: W 3-2 vs Binghamton. W: Hyde (2-1)
Abe Almonte: 1/4, 2B, BB, K (.274)
Jose Pirela: 0/4, BB, CS (1) (.380)
Cody Johnson: 0/5, 3 K (.249) He’s come back down to Earth. Just four for his last 39 (.103) with 22 K in his last 39 at bats.
Zoilo Almonte: 1/5, R, K (.242)
Melky Mesa: 2/4, R, 2B, BB, SB (7) (.256)
Shane Brown: 2/5, 2 RBI (.250)
David Adams: 0/3, RBI, BB, K, SB (2) (.239) Good to see he’s got some speed back.
Brett “Fire” Marshall: 6 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 8 K (2.64 ERA) Great to see those eight strikeouts, hopefully a sign of things to come.
Preston Claiborne: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K (2.77 ERA) So many promising relief prospects in this system he often gets overlooked.
High-A Tampa: W 5-4 vs Daytona: W: Tracy (1-1) S: Kahnle (2)
Ramon Flores: 2/4, 3 R, HR (2), K (.276) Has held his own quite well for a 20 year old at this level, now it’s time for an explosion, hopefully with some power. he’s 15 for his last 45 (.333). What I find interesting is that he has no walks in that time, which has been his calling card in the past. Maybe being more aggressive has helped him out.
Anderson Feliz: 3/4, R, 2B, SB (2) (.333) Off to a good start in High-A
JR Murphy: 0/3 (.234) Just not coming around with the bat. The Gary Sanchez promotion is lurking for him.
Matt Tracy: 7 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, BB, 4 K (1.26 ERA) He’s really excelling here, and I’m not surprised. Hope he’s in Double-A before the end of the year.
Tommy Kahnle: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 K (4.08 ERA) Excluding his first appearance since his return from injury, he’s got a 2.8 ERA and 21 K in 16 IP. Pretty darn solid.
Low-A Charleston: Was suspended, but Rutckyj had 4 IP, 3 H, 3 BB and one earned run before they called it. He’s had worse. I’ll finish it when they do.
