BBDP June 6th: The Minor Leagues still play during the draft

BBDP MVP: Angelo Gumbs – 2/4, HR, 2 SB

Triple-A Empire State: W 9-4 vs Durham. W: Ortiz (4-3) They beat our old friend Lance Pendleton today.

Ronnier “Musketeer” Mustelier: 3/5, R, 2B, K (.320) I think it’s safe to say he’s AT LEAST a quadruple A player at this point. Personally, I think he’s much more than that though.
Russell Branyan: 2/3, HR (3), 2 RBI, 2 BB (.333) Unfortunately we already have our lefty DH, but he could certainly contribute at least until Gardner comes back.
Frankie Cervelli: 1/4, 3 RBI, K (.255)
Brandon Laird: 2/5, R, 2B, HR (3), 2 RBI, K (.230)
Ramon Ortiz went 7 IP and let up three ER.

Double-A Trenton: W 7-4 vs Erie. W: Nuno (1-1)

“Honest” Abe Almonte: 4/5, R, RBI, SB (22), CS (5), PO (.275)
Zoilo Almonte: 1/5, R, 2B, 2 K (.257)
Cody Johnson: 1/4, BB, K (.255)
Melky Mesa: 1/3, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, K (.250)
Luke Murton: 1/5, R, HR (7), 2 RBI, 2 K (.239)
Jose Pirela: 1/5, SB (2) (.368)
Vidal Nuno: 6 IP, 5 H, ER, 2 BB, 4 K (0.41 ERA) 24 years old and lefty with some pretty good stuff. I’d be willing to bet he’s pitching somewhere in the major leagues next season. He’s like a Jose Quintana clone. Also picked a batter off in this game.
Kelvin Perez: 2 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 BB, 3 K (1.01 ERA)

High-A Tampa: L 3-0 to Fort Myers. L: Black (1-3)

Ramon Flores: 1/4, K (.270)
Anderson Feliz: 0/4, 3 K (.000) Just got promoted from Charleston and it was well deserved. He’ll need an adjustment period I’m sure.
JR Murphy: 1/3, K (.238)
Tyson Blaser: 1/2, BB, K (.355)
Kyle Roller: 1/3, K (.245)
Sean Black: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, ER, 5 K (6.44 ERA)
Branden Pinder: 2 IP, H, ER, 2 BB, 2 K (4.41 ERA)

Low-A Charleston: W 9-5 vs Hickory. W: Checo (6-1) S: Wetherell (5)

Mason “Mad Mase” Williams: 2/3, 3 R, 2B, BB, SB (15) (.297) Now 12 for his last 40 (.300) He’s back.
Cito “Cheeto” Culver: 1/4, R, HR (1), RBI, BB (.230) 12 for his last 43 (.279), which is much improved from the start of his season. It’s his first time in full season so he gets time.
Tyler Austin: 1/5, RBI (.332)
Gary Sanchez: 0/4, R, RBI K (.296)
Dante “Bichette Happens” Bichette Jr: 2/4, R, 2B (.260) 14 for his last 45. Here he comes.
Angelo “Bubba” Gumbs: 2/4, R, HR (7), 3 RBI, 2 SB (22) (.256) This power is really encouraging.
Reymond Nunez: 2/4, RBI, K (.273) Another hot player, 11 for his last 35 (.314) with four walks (.415 OBP) and two HR.
Mariel Checo: 2.1 IP, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K (4.10 ERA) 6-1 on the season, he just finds wins.
Phil Wetherell: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 K (2.97 ERA) Promo soon.
