Gardner experiences soreness in elbow but continues rehab return

Brett Gardner finally got back into a rehab game on Tuesday and afterward said he felt soreness in his elbow. A red flag considering he has already had one setback. But Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that it is just normal soreness because he hasn’t been playing.

“It’s a little concerning, but the fact that he felt better today makes me feel good,” Girardi told Josh Thomson of the Journal News. “He didn’t play much in the last month and a half, so I wasn’t sure how his arm would feel.”

Gardner took the day off Wednesday, he didn’t play in a rehab game on Thursday due to inclement weather, but he took batting practice and will play in a rehab game on Friday. The Yankees haven’t ruled out a return in the Subway Series, but it looks like Sunday may be the earliest he would come back. My guess is that they’ll just wait until next week.

Really need a new Gardner picture to go with these posts. Or else just use one of Tiny Tim.
