At 3,181 hits, Derek Jeter has more career hits than the all-time leader Pete Rose had on his 38th birthday. It’s still way too soon to say if he’ll break the record or not though and after a hot start Jeter hasn’t been doing very well this season either.
Over his last 43 games, Jeter is hitting just .243/.296/.292/.588 with just five extra-base hits. Against lefties, typically his bread and butter, Jeter has actually been worse with his line at. 205/.271/.250/.521 since May 8.
Historically he’s done very well on his birthday though so here’s hoping he begins to turn it around today.
