Jeter passes Ripkin for 14th on the all-time hit list

Derek Jeter keeps climbing up that all-time hits ladder. With his latest hit last night he pulled past Cal Ripken Jr. into 14th place with 3,185 hits in his career.

“Congratulations to Derek for passing me on the all-time hits list,” Ripken said in a statement. “Derek has been such a special player for such a long time and I am happy to see him continue to play at a high level. He represents the game and the Yankees wonderfully and I hope that he continues to play and continues to give all of us baseball fans great memories.”

Up next for Jeter is Nap Lajoie at 3,242 and Eddie Murray at 3,255. Even Willie Mays (No. 11) is catchable this season at 3,283.
