Rivera’s sugery was successful

Mariano Rivera finally had surgery on Tuesday to repair his torn ACL that he suffered in April and will keep him on the disabled list all season long and by all reports everything went well.

“My surgery was a success, it went perfectly,” Rivera said on his Twitter account. “I am looking forward to beginning my rehab soon. Thanks as always for your prayers.”

Rivera said that doctors told him when he injured his knee that his meniscus was also damaged, but they didn’t repair it nor do they feel they need to.

Girardi said earlier in the week that Rivera has been much better of late so expect him to start rehabbing before long. A return this season is almost definitely out of the question, but he should be ready to go by the start of next year.

I wouldn't be surpised if Mo started his rehab today. I don't know with ACL injuries, but I do know with my mom's knee replacement they had her rehabbing immediately… the next day. I would guess that they do that with ACL operations as well. There's no wait. I would guess he's rehabbing as I'm typing this.
