Rumor: Yankees bid $25-$30 million on Jorge Soler

The Yankees lost the bidding for outfielder Jorge Soler to the Cubs who landed him with a nine-year, $30 million deal with potential to earn more through arbitration.

They were aggressive though as Peter Gammons reported that the Yankees bid anywhere between $25 and $30 million for the 20-year-old Cuban. Gammons said that the White Sox and Braves were also very much included in the bidding.

Nice to see the Yankees were being very aggressive here. It would have been nicer to see them actually land Soler, but he’s unproven and they had to draw the line somewhere.
