Win propels Yankees to 1st place tie

The Yankees shutout the Braves behind a seven-inning shutout performance by Ivan Nova to win 3-0 and move into a tie for first place in the American League East.

The biggest difference that has raised the Yankees performance lately is how well the starting pitching staff has been. They are now ranked seventh in the AL with a 4.23 ERA which might not sound impressive, but considering they were second to last after April shows they have come a long way.

Ivan Nova is the latest Yankee to turn his season around. After a 5.60 ERA through his first 10 starts, Nova has now allowed just one run in his past two while his ERA dropped almost a full point to 4.64.
