Dayton Dawe said Joba was pitching for “us” in the GCL. Does this mean he signed? I think so.  He also hashtagged #withtheyankees, #fortheyankees on one of his tweets.
David Collier said on twitter he spoke with Ty Hensley, who says his decision will come down to the wire (Friday at 4 pm)

BBDP MVP: There wasn’t much here, but Chaz Hebert gets the honor in the GCL with 2 IP, 0 ER, and 2 K.

Low-A Charleston: L 6-0 to Asheville. L: Bryan Mitchell (6-7)

Ali Castillo: 2/4, CS (4) (.339)
Ben Gamel: 1/4, 2B, 3 K (.293)
Robert Refsnyder: 1/4 (.250) Good to see him in his first game. They sent this 21 year old straight to Charleston, making him still young enough for the level. He played RF today instead of the position he was drafted to play (2B)
Tyson Blaser: 1/3, RBI, K (.304)
Dante Bichette Jr: 1/4 (.252)
Reymond Nunez: 1/3, K (.269)
Cito Culver: 0/3, K (.204) Okay, his season is officially unsalvageable. He’s been awful.
Bryan Mitchell: 4 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 6 K (4.8 ERA) His season has really gone into the toilet in his last few starts. It’s a shame because he still does have a ton of potential.
Dan Mahoney: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 K (4.21 ERA)
Fred Lewis: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, K (3.29 ERA)

GCL Yankees: L 4-7 to GCL Pirates. L: Niebla (4.86 ERA)

Mikeson Oliberto: 0/5 (.286)
Nathan Mikolas: 0/3, K (.136)
Kevin Mahoney: 1/2, R, 3B, RBI, BB (.250)
Jerison Lopez: 0/1, BB (.333)
Yeicok Calderon: 0/3, 2 RBI, BB, K (.212)
Ericson Leonora: 0/3, BB (.297)
Austin Jones: 1/4, 2 K (.270) Austin Jones  admits to getting more off-speed pitches lately and needing to adjust.
Austin Aune: 1/4 (.229)
Miguel Andujar: 0/3, K, 2 E (9) (.200)
Christopher Breen: 1/3, R (.391)
Joba Chamberlain: 1 IP, 0 H, R, 0 ER, 2 K (0.00 ERA) Joba hit 97 mph in his first rehab assignment.
Luis Nieblra: 3/2 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 2 K (4.86 ERA)
Chaz Hebert: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, BB, 2 K (0.00 ERA) Not sure why he only went two innings today after going three in his last outing. I’m really confused about how they are developing their GCL pitchers this season.

New feature: Tomorrow’s starters – Jeremy Bleich will start for Short-Season Staten Island, and Matt Bashore will start for Charleston. The rest is TBD.

    Hi folks:

    I can't stand Mike Lupica.
He's best buddies with Fred and Jeff Wilpon and a Boston College grad, main reasons he's been trashing the Yankees for the last 20 years.
But we have a chance to get back at him with immediate gratification.
He has a radio show on ESPN (1050 am and 98.7 FM) every weekday from noon to 1 p.m. EST. You can also listen online at http://espn.go.com/espnradio/newyork/play.
And of course, he continues to bash the Yankees – always mentioning payroll, killing A-Rod, saying the Mets are the best New York team etc..blah. blah.
Let's all call him at 1-800-919-ESPN (3776) as much as possible and get on his Yankee-hating!
He's been flustered by some angry Yank fan calls. We can get him good! Let's do it!

  2. Will says:

Lupica is the biggest liberal sports journalist outside of that other idiot blow hard who was recently fired from mnbc. The reason he has such strong hatred goes back to George Steinbrenner a well known and genourous supporter to republican party. Mike lupica is all about wealth redistribution and the Yankees to him are everything wrong in the world as they are what capitalism really is. He is a known and self confessed liberal socialist and nothing else.
