BBDP July 18th: Nuno brings Trenton another win.

BBDP MVP: Vidal Nuno – 6 IP, ER, 5 K

Brett Marshall interviewed by milb.com about his stuff, specifically the two-seamer.             Mark Montgomery has been promoted to Trenton.

Empire State still has to play, I’ll post that later. GCL was postponed and Charleston had a day off.

Double-A Trenton: W 7-1 vs Binghamton. W: Nuno (5-2) They’re in first by 3.5 games as of this recap.

Jose Pirela: 1/5, R, K (.321)
Addison Maruszak: 1/5 (.302)
David Adams: 1/5, R, 2B (.316)
Zoilo Almonte: 0/4, 3 K (.273)
Melky “Melkman Dos” Mesa: 1/3, 2 R, 2B, BB, K (.270)
Luke Murton: 1/4, R, 2B, RBI, K (.262)
Kevin Mahoney: 1/2, 2 R, RBI, 2B (.287) 27 walks on the season, good for a .377 OBP.
Vidal Nuno: 6 IP, 6 H, ER, 2 BB, 5 K (1.56 ERA) At this point I’d really like to see what he can do in Triple-A. There’s plenty of room there with Ramon Ortiz, John Maine, and Figueroa loggings most of the innings. That would also make room for Turley or Tracy in Double-A.
Craig Heyer: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER (4.2 ERA)
Francisco Rondon: 1 IP, H, 0 ER, BB, 2 K (3.67 ERA) Still has to address his walk problems (36 in 46 innings)

High-A Tampa: W: 10-3 vs Jupiter for the sweep. W: Ramirez (4-4) In first place so far in the second half High-A schedule.

Mason “Mad Mase” Williams: 2/5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, CS (3) (.237) Five game hit streak during which he’s seven for 19 (.368)
Ramon Flores: 0/2, RBI, BB, SF, CS (6) (.297)
Adonis Garcia: 2/4, R, K (.192) Finally a multi-hit game.
Slade Heathcott: 2/4, R, K, CS (3) (.231) Second two-hit game in a row, hopefully this gets him going.
Gary “Sanchize” Sanchez: 2/4, 2 R, 2B, RBI (.231)
Kyle “K-Roll” Roller: 3/4, 2 R, HR (14), K (.272) 12 for his last 25 (.480) in his last 10 games, with three homeruns and three doubles. He’s got an eight game hit streak going.
Jose “J-Ram” Ramirez: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (3.41 ERA) Another solid showing from Ramirez. Head and shoulders above where he was last year.
Kramer Sneed: 2.1 IP, H, 0 ER, 2 K (5.66 ERA)

Short Season Staten Island: W 3-2 vs Aberdeen. W: Flight (1-2) S: Garrison (3)

Taylor Dugas: 1/4, K (.333)
Exicardo Cayones: 1/3, R, BB, K (.258)
Saxon Butler: 2/4, R (.337) Made some adjustments to his swing and got instant gratification today.
Peter O’Brien: 0/4, 2 K (.114) Not as advertised so far, but it’s only been nine games and 35 at bats at this level. Hopefully something will click.
Matt Snyder: 1/3, R, 3B, 2 RBI (.322) Like it did with him…
Ravel Santana: 1/3, 2B, RBI, 2 K (.235) He’s been much better, but he’s striking out way too much still. Five game hit streak but eight strikeouts during that time.
Fu-Lin Kuo: 0/3 (.302)
Jose Rosario: 0/3 (.167)
Claudio Custodio: 0/3, K (.229)
Tim Flight: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K (5.85 ERA)
Derek Varnadore: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, K (2.86 ERA)
James Pazos: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 K (1.96 ERA)
Taylor Garrison: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER (1.98 ERA)
