BBDP July 26th: Dickerson making bid for the show

BBDP MVP: Chris Dickerson – 4/6, 2 HR

Yankee Analysts think that Corban Joseph is becoming more than just a utility guy.
Rob Spoke earlier about how Romine is in the “best shape of his life”
Per Josh Norris, David Adams was taking groundballs at third base today.
Also per Josh, Tony Franklin said to “draw your own conclusions” about Adams playing third.

Triple-A Empire State: W 8-7 vs Charlotte. W: Ramon Ortiz (9-3)

Chris Dickerson: 4/6, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI (.301) Making his best bid for some playing time with the Yanks, but it’s probably not in the cards. 17 for his last 40 (.425) with three homeruns, three triples, three doubles, and seven walks.
Corban Joseph: 1/4, 2 RBI, BB (.278)
Eduardo Nunez: 1/5, K (.182)
Brandon Laird: 2/5, R, 2B, 2 K (.249) 15 for his last 44 (.341) If he keeps this up much longer, he’s gonna get a shot to play some third base for the Yankees, and not the Empire State Yankees. Has an eight game hit streak going.
Frankie Cervelli: 3/5, 2 R, 2B, K (.248)
Kevin “Roose” Russo: 2/4, R, RBI, BB, K (.303) 16 for his last 43 (.372)

Double-A Trenton: Suspended. Looks like they’re completing it tomorrow, when I have night shift (No BBDP).

High-A Tampa: W 6-4 vs Palm Beach: W: Cotham (2-4) S: Kahnle (3)

Ramon “Ray-Flo” Flores: 3/5, 3 R, 2B, 3B (.300) Owning this level, hopefully he gets a nice cup of tea in Double-A to end the season.
Adonis Garcia: 2/4, R, 2 RBI, CS (2) (.250) Continues to hit well after a slow start.
Slade Heathcott: 3/4, R, 2 RBI, K (.265) Five game hit streak. 13 for his last 35 (.371) with a homer. Good to see he’s out of that funk he was in.
Tyler Austin 1/4, RBI (.111) First hit in High-A.
Gary Sanchez: 1/4, 2B, RBI (.213)
Austin Romine: 3/4 (.750) Shouldn’t be long before he’s in Triple-A again.
Anderson Feliz: 1/4, 2 K (.250)
Caleb “Gotham City” Cotham: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K (4.74 ERA)
Tommy Kahnle: 2 IP, H, 0 ER, BB, 2 K (2.88 ERA) Another good reliever destined for Double-A soon.

Low-A Charleston: L 4-7 vs Rome. L: Mitchell

Ali Castillo: 0/4, BB (.328)
Cito “Cheeto” Culver: 1/3, 2 R, 2 BB, SB (18) (.220) Nine walks in his last 10 games. Seems to finally be getting there.
Ben “Gam-Gam” Gamel: 2/5, 2 R, K (.308)
Robert Refsnyder: 1/3, 2 RBI (.186)
Bryan Mitchell: 5 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K (5.32 ERA) Another rough outing, but he did really settle down after the first inning where he let up four runs.
Pedro Guerra: 2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, K (1.8 ERA)

Short Season Staten Island: Postponed.

GCL Yankees: L 3-5 to GCL Blue Jays. L: Maher (0-3)

Jerison Lopez: 1/4, BB, 2 K (.340)
Walt Ibarra: 1/4, R, 2B, K (.182)
Austin “Aooon” Aune: 2/3, 2B, BB (.317)
Ericson Leonora: 1/3, RBI, K (.257)
Austin Jones: 0/4, 3 K (.262)
Mikeson Oliberto: 0/4, K (.291)
Nathan Mikolas: 0/4, 2 K (.140)
Eduardo de Oleo: 1/4, R, HR (1), RBI, K (.154)
Joey Maher: 0.2 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, BB (5.64 ERA) The first bad outing of his career. Hopefully he learned something that will make him better today.
Chaz Hebert: 4 IP, 2 H, 5 K (1.47 ERA) He has put up some really good numbers so far in 18.1 innings (21 K). Very encouraging especially considering he’s a lefty drafted out of high school. Just two walks so far in his career. May end up being the steal of the 2011 draft as he was drafted in the 27th round.
Dayton Dawe: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K (0.00 ERA) Nice debut.

Tomorrow’s starters:

Empire State: Adam Warren (5-6, 3.65 ERA)
Trenton: Dellin Betances (1-1, 4.88 ERA)
Tampa, Charleston, Staten Island, GCL: TBD

I always liked Kevin Reese. He was never a high end prospect but played well in his cups of coffee with the Yankees.

So random lol, just looked him up. Looks like he actually had some good seasons in the minors too. I'm surprised he didn't catch on somewhere as a backup or something. Good memory!
