Cashman is skeptical about Yankees making trades before the deadline

The MLB trade deadline is slightly more than two weeks away, but hearing Brian Cashman talk about it and it doesn’t sound like the Yankees are expecting to make any big moves if they make any at all.

Cashman told reporters on Sunday that the market is too expensive right now even for players that would make only “marginal” improvements to the roster. He didn’t rule out a trade, but he added that he’s “very skeptical” that a deal will get done.

The Yankees have been lacking in the left field department all year with the absense of Brett Gardner. They seem content to wait for his return though and might even gamble on Raul Ibanez and Andruw Jones continueing to handle the job should he suffer a third setback during rehab.

For the record, the Yankees have the 6th ranked offense from the left field position in the AL and the 5th ranked at DH by wOBA (.333 and .356 respectively).
