The Yankees will activate CC Sabathia from the disabled list tonight as he will take on the Blue Jays in his first game back since injurying his groin against the Mets.
Even though the Yankees did well for themselves in his absence, they will be glad to have The Big Man back. As good as they did without him, nobody wants to be without their ace for any period of time and the Yankees will need him if they are going to win anything this year.
His 3.45 ERA is the highest it has been since he joined the Yankees, but it is still lower than his career average plus his K/9 of 8.8 and BB/9 of 2.4 are both better than his career averages while his WHIP of 1.271 is the same as ever. Which all suggests that CC is as good as ever even in his age-31 season.
The couple weeks off may have helped give him a break that the workhorse probably needed. He is poised for a big summer as usual.
No word yet on whom he will replace on the roster, but I expect that Darnell McDonald‘s days in Pinstripes are over.

Yup. It was McDonald. DFA'd. 10 days a Yankee, and goodbye 2 1/2 years of dreadlocks.
Yeah, that was one of the most predictable moves of the year.
