The Yankees claimed right handed pitcher Danny Farquhar off waivers last week and then almost immediately designated him for assignment when they claimed Chris Schwinden. However, Farquhar has cleared waivers and has been assigned to Double-A, according to Mike Ashmore of the Trentonian.
Farquhar, 25, has a 3.20 ERA with a 9.2 K/9 and 4.3 BB/9 in his minor league career. He briefly pitched for the Blue Jays last season, he had a 13.50 ERA with a strikeout and two walks in just two innings.
Unfortunately this is not likely to be a guy that we will see in the Bronx. The Yankees pitching staffs in both Triple-A and especially Double-A have suffered quite a few injuries and they are just looking for somebody to fill in innings.
