BBDP August 8th: Torrid Heathcott homers

BBDP MVP: Slade Heathcott – 3/4, 2B, HR

The Yankees released Jack Cust, Colin Curtis, and Ray Kruml today. Sad to see them go but I doubt the organization will miss them.

Double-A Trenton: This game is still going on, but here are the pitching stats so far.

Mikey O’Brien: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K (4.71 ERA)
Francisco Rondon: 1 IP, H, ER, BB (3.97 ERA)
Mark “Monty Python” Montgomery: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 4 K (0.00 ERA). Wow.
Jon Meloan: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, BB, 4 K (2.7 ERA)

High-A Tampa: W 6-1 vs Charlotte. W: Turley (7-3)

Ramon “Ray-Flo” Flores: 2/4, 2 R, BB (.306) They have to promote him soon, he is just owning this level. 16 for his last 41 (.390) with five stolen bases in his last 10 games.
Adonis Garcia: 2/5, R, 2B, K (.238)
Slade Heathcott: 3/4, R, 2B, HR (4), 3 RBI, BB, K (.273) 15 for his last 38 (.395) with two homers and a walk. The outfield at this level is extremely talented.
Tyler Austin: 1/5, RBI, K (.314)
Kyle Roller: 0/4, BB, 2 K (.260)
Gary Sanchez: 1/4, R (.240)
Nik “Turley Bird” Turley: 5 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 5 K (2.67 ERA)
Manuel Barreda: 2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, BB (3.33 ERA)
Tom Kahnle: 2 IP, 3 H, ER, 2 K (2.82 ERA) Relievers at every level in this system.

Low-A Charleston: L 2-3 vs Greenville. L: Bashore (1-4)

Cito Culver: 1/4, R, SB (20), K (.220) 11 walks in his last 10 games, good for a .391 OBP. Unfortunately his average is only .200 during that span, but at least he’s showing better patience.
Ben “Gam-Gam” Gamel: 2/4, RBI, K (.309) Has been raking at this level at the ripe old age of 20 for quite a while now. 14 for his last 43 (.326) and not showing any signs of stopping. Should see some time in Tampa before the season’s over.
Robert Refsnyder: 1/4 (.250) He’s been much… much better after a slow start. Seven for his last 12 (.583), and 11 for his last 34 (.324) Has really only been playing outfield though. It’s possible they’ll have him switch in the offseason so he doesn’t have to adjust midseason.
Ali “Prince Ali” Castillo: 1/3, R, HR (3), RBI (.314)
Matt Bashore: 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K (4.61 ERA)

Short Season Staten Island: L 10-5 vs Auburn. L: Charles Basford (0-3)

Taylor Dugas: 2/5, R, 2B, RBI (.313)
Claudio Custodio: 1/5, RBI, 2 K, E (15) (.252)
Saxon Butler: 0/4, R, BB, 2 K (.296)
Matt Snyder: 4/4, R, HR (3), BB (.325) 12 for his last 34 (.353)
Ravel Santana: 1/4, BB, 2 K (.239)
Peter O’Brien: 1/5, 2 K (.165)
Daniel Lopez: 2/4, R, SB (6), E (3) (.233)
Jose Rosario: 1/4, R, K, E (8) (.179)
Evan Rutckyj: 4.2 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (4.5 ERA) He’s been awful for his last four starts (16 earned runs in just 18.9 innings and 10 walks)
Charles Haslup: 1.1 IP, H, 0 ER, K (0.00 ERA)
