Ivan Nova likely to miss start with shoulder tightness

Ivan Nova is headed to the doctor after he felt something grab in his shoulder during his outing against the White Sox and will likely miss at least one start, according to Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News.

Nova has been in a slump lately to the tune of a 7.28 ERA over his last eight games with batters hitting .316/.377/.537 off him during that stretch. Despite that, this is very bad news. Shoulder injuries can be devastating to pitchers and he’ll be very lucky to miss just one start.

CC Sabathia is set to come back Friday so expect David Phelps to remain in the rotation while Nova is out.
