Alex Rodriguez returned to the lineup Monday

Alex Rodriguez returned to the Yankees lineup for the first time since July when he broke his hand after taking a pitch on it. He and went 1-for-4 in his debut.

Eric Chavez, Jayson Nix, and Casey McGehee did a solid job in A-Rod’s absence, but as a DH he could really help the Yankees. That’s because Raul Ibanez and Andrew Jones have been really bad lately.

Since August 1st, Ibanez has hit a pathetic .188/.288/.328 over 23 games while Jones has been even worse with a .125/.232/.208 line. Ramiro Pena is capable of providing that kind of offense so hopefully A-Rod plays plenty at DH over the next month.
