Out since April, Brett Gardner is finally back 6

The Yankees are not only activating David Aardsma tonight, but they have also activated Brett Gardner and designated Justin Thomas and Steve Pearce to make room for them on the 40-man roster, according to Mark Feinsand of the NY Daily News.

There has been talk of activating Gardner for some time now, but the Yankees never made the move. He’s likely just a defensive specialist and pinch runner. He has been hitting lately and sounded pretty sure that he is 100 percent so perhaps they’ll give him a few at bats.

As for the DFA’s. Thomas was no surprise.┬áHe has pitched in 11 major league games so far this season and despite a solid 8.2 K/9 and 3.5 BB/9 his ERA of 8.22 and OPS against of .995 are ugly.

It is a bit surprising to see Pearce DFA’d only because Mark Teixeira is still injured and Pearce has done a solid job at first in his absence. I suppose that Casey McGehee can hit lefties better than him though, but Andruw Jones has done nothing at all for most of this season and in my eyes was a candidate to be DFA’d.

Yes, that's him. But I truly believe that if he got to play every day for a whole season he'd break every record in the book. He's a beast. I will follow him where ever he goes but hopefully it will be back with the Yankees.

Break every record in the book? Really?? Are you dating him or something because no fan that didnt have a bias would even think to say that about this guy… granted he is a solid player but no better than Jason Nix or Casey Macgee. Thats just crazy talk.

Am I dating him? I wish!!! Yes, I think he's hot but that's not why I feel this way. Check out his college stats. When I said every record in the book, that doesn't include steals because he's not that fast. But if he were given an every day job, I think he's be a Roy Hobbs type player. The potential is there.
